Since I started working out at Woodward CrossFit, 6 months ago, I have lost

over 15 pounds and have gained an incredible amount of strength, confidence,

and endurance! I continue to be amazed by what my body and mind can

accomplish every time I complete one of Matt’s workouts. The variety keeps

things exciting and keeps my body guessing. Matt regularly checks in with us

to ensure we are gaining the greatest benefit by achieving our individual goals,

and I am happy to report that I have far exceeded each and every benchmark

I established when I first started with WC. I have never felt stronger, faster,

leaner, or more “in control” of my body. I was able to finish my first half-marathon and have participated in two 10K runs, since. There is no doubt in my mind that the work we put in every day at CrossFit, accompanied by Matt’s constant encouragement, are what have allowed me to accomplish so much in such a short time. Never in my life have I found something that has tested me in the way WC does, and I can definitely say that I am addicted! For me, consistency is key, and I have discovered that it is actually easy to make it back to the gym each week – even after those extra long weekends… The best thing about this gym is that it’s not just about creating a better “me” but a better “us.” It is an inspiration to work out in such a supportive and fun group – something I never thought I would enjoy. We cheer each other on and push each other through every workout, and no matter how brutal the challenge was, I always leave Woodward CrossFit with a smile on my face.

I am probably different than your average CrossFitter. Exercise wasn't always

a part of my life. I actually thought I didn't like it and wouldn't ever. I thought

I was destined to an elliptical trainer in front of a TV or one of the many group

Classes my peers had succumbed to. So boring and so tedious. I would watch

people running down the street or happily approach the gym have no idea

what would compel someone to want to work so hard. Then I found CrossFit

and I realized it wasn't that I hated to exercise, I just hadn't found my sport. I

was instantly interested in challenge of it. I wanted to not only do well but

improve immediately. I wanted to work hard and reach my goals. Goals that

I had never even had the nerve to set for myself before. Being a bit on the

heavier side (60 lbs to be exact) Matt never gave me limitations but always

believed that I could do it. For that I will be forever grateful. I soon realized

that I was one of "those" people.....the ones who wanted to work so hard.

I can honestly say I am in the best shape of my life. I have become level 1 certified to help people attain the fitness goals that they make for themselves, whatever they may be...just like I was helped. I have the unique ability to say I started from the bottom and worked my way up. I am interested in learning everything I can about CrossFit concepts and training and passing that information and knowledge onto our clients. I am proud to be part of the family here at Woodward CrossFit. I'm sure in no time you will be too.

I didn’t participate much in sports until I turned 35 and started running.  I love

running and started setting various running goals for myself i.e. marathons

and ultra marathons and ran my first 100 miler back in 2005.  But I’ve always

been a skinny fat and never seemed to get faster.  I started Crossfit at

Woodward CrossFit in September 2009 dabbling here and there while training

for the San Antonio Marathon – within months I felt stronger and faster and

am now within 90 seconds of my Boston Marathon  Qualifier which I have no

doubt I will  succeed during this marathon season.  In February, I started

Woodward CrossFit consistently 3 days a week and transformed my body as I

never have been able to before.  With Matt Woodward’s guidance and

coaching I feel empowered and walk away from each workout feeling confident and who knew I could do a max dead lift of 185lbs….Matt did, of course.  I now participate in Crossfit Endurance two days a week (in addition to WFC three days a week) and look forward to what I will accomplish at the San Antonio half marathon in November.  And with Matt’s support and encouragement I recently became CF Endurance certified.

CrossFit has changed my life. I feel strong. I feel confident. I feel athletic. I have Crossfit and Matt Woodward to thank for that. Matt can easily find your limits and push you past them. You will be amazed at what you can do.

I started CrossFit about 8 months ago. I had been doing some running and

boot camps throughout the summer, but just wasn't getting the results I wanted.

So, I decided to give it a try, and loved it from the beginning! I love the way it

pushes me, the intensity and the competiveness. I have the privilege of working

out with a great group that pushes me as well! I feel stronger, more confident

and look forward to pushing myself harder with each workout. Since I started I

have lost 22 lbs and 3 sizes! I couldn't off been as successful without changing

my diet as well. My goal is to compete in next year's CrossFit games.
